Registration and access

Are the NCCHPP online courses free?

Yes. All three NCCHPP online courses are completely free.

To register, go to the page of the online course of your choice:

Do I need to create an account to take a course?

No. You do not need to create a user account. Simply fill out the registration form for the course of your choice to access it. You will then receive a confirmation email containing the link to course modules; save this link it so you can return to the course later.

I did not receive my registration confirmation email. What should I do?

First, check your junk mail (spam) folder. If you still cannot find the confirmation email, write to us at ncchpp@inspq.qc.ca. We will be happy to help.

Can I access a course again after completing it?

Yes. You can access the course again using the link you received when you registered.

Privacy

Is my personal information protected when I register for a course?

Yes. The personal information collected when you register is handled in accordance with the Confidentiality Policy of the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) and applicable privacy laws. The NCCHPP is hosted in Montréal by the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ).

To learn more, consult the INSPQ Confidentiality Policy:

Languages and target audience

In what languages are the courses offered?

All three online courses are offered in English and French.

Who are the NCCHPP online courses for?

The courses are open to anyone interested, anywhere in the world. No prerequisites are required.

Group learning

Can I take a course with a group of colleagues?

Yes. The course A Framework for Analyzing Public Policies includes guidelines for taking the course as a group. Click here to read a few points of clarification should you choose this option, as well as suggested questions for group discussion.

How the courses work

How long does it take to complete a course?

The courses can be taken at your own pace.

The approximate time required is as follows:

  • An Introduction to Public Health Ethics: approximately 5 hours
  • Health Impact Assessment, step by step: approximately 5 hours
  • A Framework for Analyzing Public Policies: approximately 6 to 8 hours

Do I have to complete a course in one sitting?

No. You can stop a course at any time and resume it later. Since your progress is not saved, the module will start over from the beginning, but you can go directly to the desired section using the navigation menu.

How can I track my progress in a course?

The courses are offered as stand-alone modules accessible from a web page. The NCCHPP does not use a learning management system that would save your progress or automatically indicate which modules you have already completed.

We suggest that you keep track of your progress from one module to the next.

After completing a module, simply return to the main page of the course to access the next module.

This does not affect your ability to obtain your certificate of completion. Once you have completed the last module, fill out the evaluation form, then download your certificate.

Is there a time limit for completing a course?

No. You can follow the course at your own pace. There is no deadline for completing a course.

Certificates

How do I obtain my certificate of completion?

After completing all the modules of the course, fill out the evaluation form. You will then be able to download your certificate of completion.

I lost my certificate of completion. Can I get a new one?

Yes. Write to us at ncchpp@inspq.qc.ca with your name, the title of the course and, if possible, approximately when you took it. We will check our records and send you a new copy of your certificate.

Continuing education credits

Can I obtain continuing education credits from my professional regulatory body?

The NCCHPP issues a certificate of completion at the end of each of its courses.

If you wish to obtain continuing education credits, please check with your professional regulatory body whether this certificate is recognized.

Compatibility and display

Is a printable version of the course available?

No. The courses are designed to be taken online and are not available in a printable version.

On which devices can I take the courses?

The courses can be accessed from a computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection.

For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your web browser.

What should I do if a module does not display properly?

First, refresh the page or try using a different web browser.

If the problem persists, contact us at ncchpp@inspq.qc.ca and include the name of the course, the module concerned and, if possible, a screenshot of the problem.
