The Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach has gained significant attention as a strategy to promote health, equity, and wellbeing by integrating health considerations into policy making across all sectors. While its principles are well established, a key challenge remains: how can HiAP be effectively implemented in practice?
The Portrait of Health in All Policies in Canada project, developed by the NCCHPP, as part of the Canadian Network for Health in All Policies (CNHiAP), aims to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application by exploring how HiAP is operationalized across different contexts. This series highlights a variety of HiAP initiatives in Canada. Each case summary examines an initiative’s origins, mission, objectives, governance, implementation mechanisms, achievements, funding, and evaluation tools.
Designed for public health professionals and decision makers, this series provides insights into HiAP initiatives in Canada to facilitate its implementation in various Canadian contexts.
This project was conducted in collaboration with Professor Ketan Shankardass from Wilfrid Laurier University and Emily Schneider, his research trainee at the University of Toronto.
