The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to renew and reinforce public health infrastructure in Canada and elsewhere in the world. It’s within this context that the NCCHPP joined the Platform to Monitor the Performance of Public Health Systems research project led by principal investigators Dr. Sara Allin, Dr. Andrew Pinto and Dr. Laura Rosella from the University of Toronto.

The first phase of this project involves producing detailed descriptions of public health financing, governance, organization, and workforce in each of the 13 Canadian provinces and territories in a literature review that was validated by decision makers.
In order to make this data available to inform public health renewal discussions, the NCCHPP will publish a series of 13 profiles of public health systems in Canada along with a methodology document.

This series is the result of a partnership between the NCCHPP, the North American Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, the Upstream Lab, the Population Health Analytics Lab, the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.

Documents will be released as they are completed.
