This plenary session involving the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health, National Collaborating Centre for Aboriginal Health and the National Collaborating Centre for Healthy Public Policy explored the work of the World Health Organization (WHO) Commission on the Social Determinants of Health (CSDH), and asked what this work means in the Canadian context.
The NCCHPP’s Val Morrison presented the conceptual framework employed by the CSDH. The issues and questions she addressed include:
- The usefulness of analytical synthesis
- The dynamics between the social determinants of health and their political, social and economic contexts
- How does the framework break down?
- What its relevance for Canada?
