A Tool to Reflect on Organizational Capacities for Healthy Public Policies

A tool to clarify your priorities and move into action

Are you looking to strengthen your organization’s actions on healthy public policies (HPPs)? This tool will help you to structure your reflection, identify priorities, and target concrete, realistic actions. Easily adaptable to different organizational contexts, it enables you to produce an overview of your current situation, identify your strengths and gaps, and support your strategic decision making. It also comes with practical resources to help you implement selected strategies.

This tool can be used to support organizational planning, foster team discussions, and develop operational and strategic recommendations (for example, relating to governance, partnerships, competency development, or resource allocation). It can also help structure organizational change initiatives aimed at strengthening the integration of HPP into practices, processes, and internal policies.

How to use the tool?

The tool is organized into seven documents: one introductory document and six reflection documents. Please open the documents in the PDF application and save them to your computer.

Step 1: Presentation and instructions

First, review the Presentation and instructions document to understand how the tool works and the steps to follow. Take a moment to decide how you will complete the exercise (individually, as a team, or using a hybrid approach) that best fits your context.

Step 2: Overview of your situation

Using document 1. Overview of your situation, review and summarize the actions implemented within your organization. This overview will help you select one or more dimensions to explore in greater depth using the Analysis by dimension documents (2 to 6).

Step 3: Analysis by dimension

In each of the Analysis by dimension documents, you will be invited to describe the practices in place within your organization and then engage in a reflective process using targeted questions. These questions will guide you in examining your practices, identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing strategies tailored to your organizational context.

The Analysis by dimension documents also provide practical resources to support you in implementing the selected strategies.
