Pan-Canadian Meeting on Health in All Policies (HiAP)
The National Collaborating Centre for Healthy Public Policy (NCCHPP) organized a Pan-Canadian meeting on Health in All Policies (HiAP) in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec (MSSS – Québec’s ministry of health and social services). This meeting was held on October 9, 2019, in Québec City and brought together 25 participants affiliated with federal and provincial governments, regional health authorities, Indigenous organizations, and universities from across Canada.

This webinar looked into policy briefs as tools for sharing knowledge with policy makers: their effectiveness, their possible forms, and how to produce them.
Symposium – Building a Collaborative Environment: Bridging Disciplines of Public Health and Planning – Public Health 2019
On May 1, 2019, Thierno Diallo from the NCCHPP contributed to a panel discussion at a symposium entitled “Building a Collaborative Environment: Bridging Disciplines of Public Health and Planning”. The symposium was held at the Public Health 2019 Conference of the Canadian Public Health Association in Ottawa from April 30 to May 2, 2019.
Symposium – International Perspectives on Promoting Population Mental Health and Wellbeing as a Critical Strategy for Sustainable Health Development
Pascale Mantoura, Scientific Advisor at the NCCHPP, participated in the Health Promotion World Conference of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) held in Rotorua, New Zealand, in April 2019. She offered a symposium on promoting population mental health in collaboration with experts Margaret M. Barry and Janet Fanslow.
Webinar – Discussing Public Health Roles in Population Mental Health and Wellness Promotion
In this webinar, co-presented by the NCCHPP and Public Health Sudbury & Districts, presenters discussed a general overview of the roles of public health in population mental health and wellness promotion and presented an example of integration of a population mental health perspective in public health practice.
Webinar – How Can We (and Why Should We) Analyze the Ethics of Paternalistic Policies in Public Health?
The purpose of this webinar was to equip public health actors to conduct a critical and nuanced ethical analysis of public health policies or population-based interventions accused or suspected of being paternalistic.
Webinar – Punctuated Equilibrium Model for Influencing Public Policies: Practical Implications for Public Health
This webinar introduced the punctuated equilibrium model and discussed its utility for public health actors who want to take action on public policies.
Health impact assessment: Exchange day with practitioners – International perspective
On October 23, 2018, the Centre’s Thierno Diallo offered a presentation during a day of exchanges on Health Impact Assessment (HIA) that was held in Rennes, France. This day was organized by the École des hautes études en santé publique (EHESP) and gathered together experts from France, Switzerland and Québec.
Webinar – Structures of Indifference: An Indigenous Life and Death in a Canadian City
This webinar, co-hosted by the National Collaborating Centres for Aboriginal Health (NCCAH) and Healthy Public Policy (NCCHPP) was organized for the 10th anniversary of the death of Brian Sinclair, an Anishinaabe man who died after waiting for treatment at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre Emergency Room for 34 hours. This was an opportunity to discuss the story of Brian Sinclair in the context of the history of the city of Winnipeg, and the history of health care in the province of Manitoba, and to critically examine anti-Indigenous racism.
Workshop – Public Health Ethics for Public Health Practice
The Centre presented a 3-hour session introducing public health ethics at the University of Waterloo’s School of Public Health and Health Systems. In preparation for this session, we updated and reformulated much of the introductory material that we have developed over the last five years.
